Seiko Prospex Alpinist GMT SPB379
The legendary Alpinist is reborn with a new GMT calibre
The long-running Seiko Prospex Alpinist has quietly remained a distinctive, highly functional tool watch, marrying dependable timekeeping with the time-honored traditions of an inner rotating compass bezel for the wilderness-savvy. The next generation of this classical mountaineering instrument is now equipped with a third degree of utility: a 24-hour complication, yielding the new Seiko Prospex Alpinist GMT.Â
Equipped with Seiko's latest 6R54 GMT calibre, the red-tipped 24-hour hand of the Alpinist GMT can be set independently in one-hour increments without interrupting the time-of-day hands and allows the wearer to see, at a glance, the time in a second time zone. Furthermore, this bright 24-hour hand (when used as a day/night indicator, rather than a second time zone) makes the using of the Alpinist's signature rotating compass bezel as a navigation aid significantly easier.Â
Like its high-climbing predecessors, the Alpinist GMT is water resistant to 200 meters, and has Lumibrite on the distinctive cathedral hands and all 12 markers. It is presented on a rugged leather strap with a new stainless steel deployant clasp.
